Boat License Available Online
Boating Industry International Staff
A Canadian company has provided a bilingual Web site where recreational boaters may obtain the mandatory boat license (Pleasure
Craft Operator's Card).
BoaterExam.com® created the Web site. Officials said recreational boaters can become licensed
in less than one hour. The site has successfully issued a boat license to thousands of boaters across Canada, the company said.
Boaters can train, challenge the exam, print a temporary boat license and legally drive a boat within an hour of visiting
BoaterExam.com®, the company said.
"We wanted to offer an alternative certification process for boaters who don't have the time to spend a Saturday in a classroom, or for those
who live in rural or isolated communities where no safe boating courses are even offered," said Larry
McNamee, president and co-founder.
Boat license required by law
Canadian legislation states that an operator of any watercraft fitted with a motor and being used for recreational purposes must obtain a Pleasure Craft Operator Card. The card (or boat license) is available to boaters who successfully pass
the Canadian Coast Guard accredited safe boating exam.
BoaterExam.com® is an accredited safe boating course provider of the Canadian Coast Guard authorized to provide online safe boating training and certification.
